Job Summary
Key Responsibilites
1. Performing phlebotomy testing on the various benches within the Laboratory.
2. Hematology: Complete blood counts, blood groups, cross matching of blood for transfusion,
3. prothrombin Time, partial thromboplastin time, INR, Direct coombs, ESR, Reading
4. Differentials etc.
5. Biochemistry: Testing of serum/plasma for liver Function, Renal function tests, cardiac
6. function, lipid profile, Blood sugars, HbAIC, Amylase, Phosphorous, Calcium, Uric Acid,
CPK, LDH, CK-MB, Troponin I, Myoglobin, etc.
7. Endocrinology: Beta HCG, Thyroid Function, PSA.
8. Immunology: C-Reactive Protein, Dengue IgM, IgG, HIV 1 & 11, Hepatitis B surface
9. Antigen/antibody, Hepatitis C virus, Rheumatoid Factor, VDRL.
10. Conduct drug testing, Cocaine and Marijuana.
11. Plating out of specimens such as urine, stool, blood, swabs, CSF and other bodily fluids.
12. To follow up on cultures, making and reading of wet preparations, sensitivity testing, occult
blood etc.
13. Tests on Urine: Micro Urinalysis, twenty-four (24) urine protein and creatinine
clearance.
14. Processing of CSF: Testing for protein and glucose, cell count, gram stain, VDRL
15. Ensure that adequate care in the use of Laboratory equipment is observed.
16. Adherence to health and safety practices in the Laboratory.
17. Ensure that samples are processed to be sent out to other Labs or to be stored.
18. To ensure the registering and billing of clients.
19. Entering and updating information on hospital EMR.
20. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Education: Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)
• At least 5 O’levels including Mathematics and English Language.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience: At least five (5) years’ work experience in a similar working environment.
preferably in a healthcare environment.
